At South Salem Animal Hospital, extraordinary care is only the beginning.
The same can be said for our sister location, Noah's Ark Animal Hospital, located in Danbury, Connecticut.
We provide medical, surgical, and dental care for your pets.We do this in our Fear Free practice with a softer, gentler, better approach.
We treat dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds, pot bellied pigs, goats, sheep… you name it. We take every possible measure to give your pets the care they deserve. We offer the kind of care that we all want for our pets and we understand that pets are beloved members of every family.
We serve the towns of South Salem, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Bedford, Cross River, Katonah, Lewisboro, Golden’s Bridge, Somers, Ridgefield, Wilton and and many other surrounding communities. And, we've been doing so since 1956.
If your pet is sick, we will always make room for a visit that same day. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all appointment requests to the best of our ability.
To accommodate your busy schedule we also accept “drop offs.” You can leave your pet with us and we will examine him or her and call you with our medical plan and estimate of cost.
Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately.
South Salem Animal Hospital has a veterinarian and a team of highly trained veterinary technicians and assistants on hand Monday through Saturday. We also have personnel on duty seven days a week; including on-call veterinarians and veterinary technicians who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet requires. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together.
Emergencies might include snail bait poisoning, vehicular-related trauma,, chocolate ingestion, vomiting or diarrhea, severe lethargy, wounds, and any other urgent concern you may have. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in for a doctor and triage nurse will see you immediately. If possible, it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
Emergency services after hours and on holidays are provided by other facilities in the area.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to fit you in between scheduled appointments. Or you can drop your pet off and we will call you after the doctor performs a thorough examination to discuss a treatment plan.
You will never be turned away. We will always make room for you.
When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Everyone is friendly and cooperative. Many suggestions were given to me to provide the best quality of life for my dog, yet I was not pressured into doing all of them. Very pleasant experience for our family!
